The intention during this course is to provide you with some strategies and tips on how we can more effectively support older people with depression, reduce hospital bed days, inappropriate admissions and prevent unnecessary interventions.


  • Context of depression in old age and misdiagnosis

  • Different approaches: Post war cohort ( baby boomers) and the old old.
  • Role transitioning
  • Therapeutic use of self
  • Strategies/top tips
  • Case studies using questioning approaches and observations
