Content
In taking a holistic approach to falls prevention, the session will focus on the importance of assessing a range of issues from the role of perception and neurology, environmental issues such as lightening and the importance of assessing physical health needs such as delirium and dementia. The day will also look at practical issues such as working with people's fear of falling and safe transfers.
The day will involve a variety of methods of engaging participants with the subject matter: from discussion in pairs, small group exercises and role plays, to more traditional didactic presentations. The day is especially suited to staff working within NHS in-patient units and Nursing Homes.
The day will be led by Alice Hortop (Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy).
