If you are interested in taking part in the mindful eating research trial at UWE Bristol, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire. Your information will be kept confidential at all times, and will only be seen by the course leader. At the end of the course, your information will be confidentially destroyed.
You will then be sent a copy of the research trial information sheet, a demographics form and a copy of the research trial consent form. You will be asked to complete and return the demographics sheet by email.
The orientation sessionis a chance to find out more about the course and ask any questions you may have. It will also be an opportunity for you to experience a short practice in a small group environment, which can help you to assess whether this course is right for you at this time. You will be given a printed copy of the information sheet about the mindful eating research trial in the orientation session as well, and, if you are happy to proceed, you will be invited to sign the consent form.Â
Upon completion of your orientation session, you will be invited to formally register on the course and pay your course fees via the UWE Bristol WPM System.

Entry Requirements
This short course is appropriate for anyone over the age of 18 who identifies as a woman and is interested in mindfulness meditation and eating. You need to be willing to practice the in-class exercises at home between sessions, and to complete some questionnaires when needed.
Introduction
Mindful Eating - Conscious Living is an eight-week mindfulness programme, in which you will learn how to be less anxious and more at ease around food and eating.
Through practicing paying attention to the present moment, without judgement, we can cultivate the capacity to tune into the physical experience of eating and how it relates to our moods and emotions. In time, we can regain our natural freedom around food and eating.
This programme is being offered as part of a programme of research in collaboration with UWE Bristol's Centre for Appearance Research. This means that, in addition to taking part in the class, there will be some questionnaires to fill out before, during and after the programme.
