Content

A wide range of topics will be addressed, including pathophysiology, diagnostic investigations, treatment and management.

The newly adopted wound, ischemic and foot infection (WIfI) classification system and the latest diagnostic tools quantifying skin perfusion will be presented alongside more longstanding investigations such as duplex and the toe/ankle brachial pressure index (TBI, ABPI) assessments.

There will also be a troubleshooting session to explore the more challenging audible waveforms that can be encountered while performing an ABPI test.

Introduction

This collaborative study day will be delivered jointly by UWE Bristol and North Bristol NHS Trust on a virtual platform, providing a safe and widely accessible teaching environment.  

The course is aimed at a range of health professionals, either in the primary or secondary care setting, who are involved with the diabetic foot patient. The course will benefit those new to the area as well as those with experience.

The half-day session will introduce the secondary care diabetic foot service at North Bristol NHS Trust, as well as giving an overview of the way foot services are delivered from a community perspective.

Contributors on the day include a vascular consultant, vascular scientist, interventional radiologist, podiatrist and a patient experience.
