Content
We will cover the basic principles of photography with a focus on your ability to use manual settings to give you full creative control, this will include; aperture, shutter speed, ISO and basic lighting requirements. You will learn the best way to use your camera settings for use in a variety of situations.
We will then look at a basic digital workflow, exploring the best way to get your images from camera to print, you will learn how to manipulate your images on a computer to improve and enhance them.
The course is structured around a series of practical briefs you will work on between classes, with weekly group discussions about your images. Half way through the course, you will choose from a selection of briefs and begin to work on a set of images in response. You will work towards a final set of prints over the next few weeks with one to one help, group tutorials and workshops on printing and presenting your work.
Introduction
To introduce learners to the basic skills required to take and edit their own digital photographs, concentrating on the ability to use manual settings for maximum creative control. The course will also look at basic workflow including file management, basic image editing and preparing files for print.
The course will be structured around a series of weekly briefs to gain experience in basic skills alongside the chance to work on a longer brief resulting in an edited set of images at the end of the course.
Learning and Teaching
You will learn to take and edit photographs more confidently and undertake several mini projects to practice your skills.
You will become more confident in discussing and analysing your own images alongside getting inspiration from other photographer's work.
By the end of the course you will have spent several weeks working on a single project resulting in a set of prints that reflect your ideas.
